The Middle Years Programme (MYP) educates our students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. It encourages the development of communication skills, intercultural understanding and global engagement. The all-encompassing method is called Project-based Learning, by means of which our students learn to clarify interdisciplinary questions and find creative solutions for them. Upon transfer to grade 11, our MYP students acquire the German “Mittlere Reife”.
The MYP curriculum for grades 6 to 10 enables us to develop each student’s learning potential. Beyond the individual subjects, our students also learn, above all, to become familiar with interdisciplinary issues. We teach regular subjects such as languages, mathematics, science, history, music, art and physical education, equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, understanding and thinking necessary for success in the IB Diploma programme and for their future in the 21st century. Scholarly work is encouraged through the Personal Project, which requires all students to develop a project at the end of their MYP programme and also write a comprehensive report documenting and reflecting on their project development.
The Compassionate Changemakers and Leadership Lab (CCLL) is at the heart of the MYP at Strothoff International School, with the aim of training students to become committed changemakers who use their leadership skills to solve problems in local and global communities. Our students learn through real life experiences and apply their skills in innovative projects. If you would like to learn more, please click here.
