Strothoff International School supports the Chinese Moon Festival, organized by the club of Overseas-Chinese in Germany. Through that we got the opportunity to participate as an active member at this special evening in Neu-Isenburg.
The Moon festival is celebrated in China on the 15th day of the 8th month after the traditional Chinese calendar. In the old dynasty the emperors dedicated this day to the moon. Later on royals and other wealthy people continued this tradition to marvel at the bright full moon during the fall months.
Our school was not only represented in the lobby of the Hugenottenhalle. Our students also took over an active part in this celebration. With support of the music teacher Ms. Soon Kim, the students were able to participate as a music act in the diverse and entertaining program. This was a very emotional moment for these students.
We wanted to give parents the occasion to experience this wonderful festival and enjoy this spectacular performance; therefore we gave our parents the opportunity to get free tickets for the festival, which were all gone within one day.
Guests watched enthusiastically many groups of Chinese artists present their arts, dances, singing and acrobatics. The concert hall was filled to the brim, the atmosphere was wonderful and everyone had lots of fun.
The whole event was hosted by the club of Overseas-Chinese in Germany e.V. Many thanks, to Ms. Li-Herold, for the outstanding organisation.
