Halloween at SIS was more than costumes and candy this year—it was an opportunity to make a difference.

As part of our school’s UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) action plan, the PETS Club has proudly adopted SDG 15: Life on Land, which focuses on protecting and restoring ecosystems and supporting the animals that share our planet.

During our Halloween festivities, students, parents, and teachers came together to enjoy glitter tattoos, a themed photobooth, and a pop-up awareness store where visitors learned more about our ongoing partnership with the local Tierheim animal shelter. The generosity from our community was incredible, and right after the event, PETS members personally delivered the collected donations to the shelter.

The Tierheim staff were overjoyed and deeply grateful for the support. Thanks to your contributions, our donation drive was a true success—but the work doesn’t end there.

How You Can Continue to Help

Our donation cart remains in the school lobby, ready to collect further contributions. During our last visit, Tierheim staff shared that they are currently most in need of:

  • Cleaning supplies (sponges, soap, floor/window cleaners)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Towels and light blankets
  • Canned dog food and other pet food (cats, dogs, rabbits, birds)
  • Pet toys
  • Any other items that support animal care
  •

We’ll be visiting the Tierheim again before the Christmas break to deliver the next round of donations.

Thank You for Making a Difference

The PETS Club would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in our Halloween activities and contributed to the donation drive. Your kindness helps improve the lives of animals in our community and supports our shared mission to protect “Life on Land.”

Together, we can keep this momentum going—one small act of compassion at a time.
