Seeing the World Through Art with Miss Jasmina

When you walk into a classroom with Miss Jasmina, our new Secondary Art and Design teacher, you quickly realize that art is more than just painting or drawing—it’s a way of seeing the world.

“Art is very important because as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you can see it,” Miss Jasmina explains. “Art is all around you; you cannot avoid it. Even when you close your eyes, you will see something—colors, light, shapes. Even when you go shopping, the things you choose to buy reflect your sense of design and aesthetics.”

Her point is simple but profound: art is everywhere. It shapes how we interact with the world, whether we notice it or not. “Even if you think that art is not too important, you face it constantly throughout your day,” she says. “In the nighttime, you might dream in color or black and white. Understanding art helps you understand your surroundings and how artists create the world we live in.”

Art in Unexpected Places

Miss Jasmina loves to show students that art isn’t confined to galleries or museums. She points out that a car is designed by an artist, but that’s just the beginning. Art is all around us in places we might forget to notice:

  • Architecture: The shape of a building, the curve of a staircase, or the design of a bridge all reflect artistic principles.
  • Everyday Objects: Furniture, lamps, kitchenware, and even packaging design rely on color, balance, and form.
  • Nature: The horizon, the patterns in leaves, the play of light through clouds—nature itself is full of artistic elements.
  • Digital Design: The apps we use, websites we visit, and even video game worlds are crafted with color, composition, and design in mind.

“Art is really helpful in your daily life,” Miss Jasmina says. “It’s relaxing just to look into the distance, see the horizon, or notice the details in the world around you. Art feeds the soul, and understanding it makes everything more meaningful.”

Art as a Way of Life

In her classroom, Miss Jasmina encourages students to observe, reflect, and think creatively. Whether it’s analyzing a painting, sketching a landscape, or noticing the design of a car, her lessons show that art is not just something we make—it’s something we live with every day.

“Everything you see has been influenced by an artist,” she reminds her students. “The more you understand art, the more you understand the world.”
