Everyday life at our Kindergarten
A colourful world in two languages

We see our kindergarten as a place where your child can explore the world, grow as an individual and learn in both German and English. Within a warm, structured and supportive environment, we provide engaging, play-based learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs – encouraging them to develop confidence and curiosity at their own pace.

A glimpse into daily life

Themes and educational activities at our Kindergarten

Whether reading aloud, singing or role-playing: languages and different cultures are omnipresent in our international kindergarten. Your child experiences language as a living tool for expressing themselves and making contact with others.

We value the uniqueness of every child.

We create a trusting, safe and stimulating environment in which children can learn through the playful process of their own efforts. They are constantly encouraged to make decisions, take risks and reflect on their observations.

Through child-centered play and focused learning, all children have the time and space to develop into curious and creative thinkers, unique individuals who thrive in a complex and ever-changing world. This includes taking into account the children's learning needs and abilities in order to plan accordingly. We support the children in their individual development in collaboration with their families.

Growing up with music

Musical education plays a central role in everyday kindergarten life. Music comes alive through lots of singing, clapping and trying out instruments.

The children get to know a diverse repertoire of songs that not only promotes their language development, but also strengthens their self-confidence and joy of expression. Together, the children discover the world of sound: they sing, make music on child-friendly instruments and experience how rhythm, melody and dynamics come into harmony. In this way, they playfully develop a fine ear, a feeling for musical structures and a good sense of tempo and expression.

Little explorers in the world of books

Once a week, our library is transformed into a cosy place full of stories, pictures and imagination. Together with the classroom teachers, the children immerse themselves in exciting worlds of books – sometimes in German, sometimes in English – and learn how to handle books in a playful way. Our goal: to awaken the joy of reading and promote early reading skills.

Movement

Activities that promote gross motor skills play a key role in a child's development between the ages of two and five. Children have a natural urge to move, experiment and explore things for themselves in order to gain new learning experiences.

Through sporting activities, your child gains new opportunities for perception and expression and can explore their body holistically. One of our main goals is to develop the general motor skills and abilities of each child in order to support them individually. This is achieved through many different activities, such as balance exercises, testing the ability to react (e.g. catching and throwing a ball) or sharpening the sense of orientation. These activities help your child to develop spatial awareness, which in turn provides them with important cues such as depth and distance, which are important for movement and orientation in the environment.

During physical activities, children play team and coordination games to encourage cooperation and build relationships among peers. Through these activities, independence, social behavior and a sense of community, body awareness, concentration and attention as well as imagination are developed and strengthened.

Further activities and clubs (AKAs)

Does your child still want to move and explore after a day at kindergarten? Life at the Strothoff International School Kindergarten is so much more than our classrooms. Our wide range of clubs, groups and activities after school offer children the chance to extend and enrich their interests, as well as providing opportunities for personal development. It is through a full range of clubs, activities and sports that we help children find their true passions.

Kindergarten AKA’s are separate to those of the school and held in the Kindergarten area. Pick up for AKA’s is at 17:00.

Registration for an activity of your choice is necessary. Just get in touch with us.

Organic for kids

For us, healthy eating is just as much a part of learning as books and exercise.

During lunch time children are encouraged to be risk-takers and try different types of food as well as to be principled by using table manners at lunchtime. A hot meal is provided daily for all Kindergarten children from 12:00 to 13:30. The meal includes salad and meat options, fruit for dessert, and sometimes yoghurt or pudding. No pork products are ever used, and vegetarian options are always available.

When choosing a caterer, we have placed great importance on a varied, balanced and healthy meal. Calis, our organic catering provider, is a small family business based in the Rhine-Main area and offers high-quality organic food. https://www.calis-biocatering.de/
Of course, we take into account the individual requirements of the children in the context of the joint lunch.

It goes without saying that we take your child's individual needs into account when serving lunch together.

School uniform

All children in the kindergarten wear a common kindergarten/school uniform. We are convinced that this not only strengthens the sense of community, but also prevents social tensions and makes everyday life easier for parents.

The last year of kindergarten before starting Strothoff International Primary School is a special feature for us.

Our reception is already part of the school and thus optimally prepares the children for the transition to first grade. Thanks to our bilingual language concept, children without knowledge of a second language can also start without any problems. With our help, your child can prepare for a smooth start to school without any pressure. Find out what makes our entry level so special.
